The thyroid is a small butterfly-shaped gland inside the neck. It is found below the voice box (larynx) and in front of the windpipe (trachea). It produces two thyroid hormones—T3 (triiodothyronine) and T4 (thyroxine)—that travel through the blood to all tissues of the body.
